# Team quickstart: from new org to a team skill

> Create an OpenWork Cloud organization, invite teammates, publish a skill plugin through a Collection, and use it from the desktop app

Set up a team on [app.openworklabs.com](https://app.openworklabs.com), publish your first skill, and trigger it from the desktop app — in about 15 minutes.

By the end of this walkthrough you will have:

1. Created an organization on OpenWork Cloud.
2. Invited a few teammates and organized them into teams.
3. Created a Collection and added a plugin with a simple test skill to it.
4. Granted the Collection to the relevant team.
5. Signed in to the org from the OpenWork desktop app and triggered the skill with a plain-language prompt.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Users:** the Free plan covers up to **5 users**, counting pending invitations. The Team plan (\$10 per user per month) adds unlimited users and SSO. For early access to analytics, [reach out](mailto:founders@openworklabs.com).

## 1. Create your organization

Head to [app.openworklabs.com](https://app.openworklabs.com). Enter your work email and press **Next** — OpenWork routes you to the right sign-in step automatically.

![Start using OpenWork — email step](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/01-signin-email.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=2df364fd79ae2a861276f6b46e14e185)

New emails get the **Create your account.** step. Pick a name and password, then **Sign up**.

Right after sign-up, OpenWork asks you to **name your team**. This creates your organization — you can rename it later, and no credit card is required.

You land in the admin dashboard with a short setup checklist. You can follow it now or come back later — this tutorial covers the important parts.

![Setup checklist](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/04-onboarding-checklist.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=495bf782132074251a2cecbb9188a33d)

## 2. Invite teammates and create teams

Open **Members** in the sidebar. Click **Add member**, enter your teammate's email, pick a role (usually Member), and hit **Send invite**. The owner can choose elevated roles; admins can invite only members.

![Invite a teammate](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/05-invite-member-form.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=fa26e5f428db0bf7aa4e97d36f841e89)

Repeat for a few teammates. Invited people show up as **Pending** until they accept. From the row menu (⋯) you can **Copy invite link**, **Resend invite**, or **Cancel invite**.

![Members list with pending invites](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/06-members-pending.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=6ebfc8291ac1507ef17dee51f89a96bb)

Your teammate opens the invite link, sets a password, and joins with one click:

![Join screen — what your teammate sees](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/07-join-org-amy.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=fbba6adc7868aed8d83df2a89e9b57db)

![Welcome after joining](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/08-amy-welcome.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=1edd5d9c3d11b282474f05e91617a140)

Now organize people into teams. Switch to the **Teams** tab, click **Create Team**, name it (for example `Sales`), and tap the members who belong in it.

![Create the Sales team](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/09-create-team-sales.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=b34f1d85e3ae2e401a6dfabf64c4a9ef)

Teams show up with their members at a glance:

![Teams list](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/10-teams-list.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=0b840f8d4a4f29bfd08048c027f8be1a)

Leave the organization Admin checkbox off for ordinary resource-sharing teams
such as `Sales`. If a team should grant organization-wide administration, the
owner must explicitly approve it. See
[Team Admin access](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/members-and-rbac.md#team-admin-access).

## 3. Create a plugin with a test skill

Skills are step-by-step instructions the agent loads when a task matches — think of them as runbooks your whole team can share. A skill lives inside a **plugin**, and a **Collection** groups one or more plugins for assignment.

First open **Settings › Advanced › Collections**, click **New collection**, and create one for your team — for example `Sales Enablement`.

The new Collection opens. On its **Plugins** tab, click **Add a plugin**. Fill in the **Plugin name** and **Description**, then click **Skill** under **What's inside**.

Write the skill like a great runbook:

* **Name** — e.g. `Prep a sales call`
* **Description** — when should the agent use this? e.g. *"Use when someone asks to prepare for a sales call or customer meeting."*
* **Instructions** — plain markdown with the steps you want the agent to follow.

In the **Share** section, check that **Collection** shows **Sales Enablement**. If only selected teams should receive it, leave **Share with everyone in the organization** off. Click **Create plugin**. The creator keeps access automatically.

## 4. Give teams access to the Collection

Open **Settings › Advanced › Collections › Sales Enablement** and select the **Members** tab. Under **Who can access this**, click **Add team** and pick `Sales`. You can instead turn on access for everyone in the organization or click **Add people**.

That's the whole admin loop: **skill inside a plugin → Collection → team or member**. Anyone added to the team later inherits access to the Collection.

## 5. Trigger the skill from the desktop app

Now switch to the [OpenWork desktop app](https://openworklabs.com). On the welcome screen, click **Joining a team? Sign in** and sign in with the same account.

![Desktop welcome](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/18-desktop-welcome.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=69090c4df8e31b7f82a8f1c9b775bf60)

Pick your organization:

![Choose your organization](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/19-desktop-choose-org.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=0ed0fa25dcf7d959cb6577b248a01bcb)

You can confirm the connection any time under **Settings › Account**:

![Signed in to Acme Labs](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/21-desktop-account-connected.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=72ab42bf1ffbaedd26329175e2d6167d)

Open **Settings › Library** and filter to **Skills**. The skill assigned through `Sales Enablement` appears there automatically; click the refresh button (tooltip **Refresh**) if the admin changed access moments ago.

Now just ask for the thing the skill knows how to do. Type a prompt that matches the skill's description and hit **Run task**:

> *Prep me for tomorrow's sales call with Northwind Traders. 30 minutes with their operations lead, goal is a paid pilot.*

![Prompt that triggers the skill](https://mintcdn.com/differentai/eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl/images/cloud-team-quickstart/23-desktop-prompt.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=eXmmJWVbS6eYawVl\&q=85\&s=29048186a6b6a49e469070f9f57cceb6)

The agent picks up the skill and follows your runbook — research, a timed agenda, discovery questions, objection handling, and a clear next step, saved as a doc in your workspace:

## What's next

* Add more skills to the plugin as your team's playbooks grow — everyone gets updates automatically.
* Import existing plugins from GitHub (open a Collection, click **Add a plugin**, then **Import from GitHub**), including Anthropic-compatible plugin repositories.
* Wire up **Sources** to keep Collections in sync with a repository.
* To share a single plugin without a Collection, open it under **Manage › Plugins** and use **Who can use it**. See [Publish and copy a skill](https://openworklabs.com/docs/start-here/do-work-with-it/publish-and-copy-a-skill.md).
* Read [Collections](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/share-with-your-team/collections.md) when you need several plugins, reusable audiences, or more complex assignments.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Need more?** The Free plan covers up to 5 users; inviting a 6th asks you to upgrade to the Team plan, which is \$10 per user per month. Pending invitations count as users until they expire. SSO is included in Team. For early analytics access, [contact us](mailto:founders@openworklabs.com).
