> ## Agent Instructions
> For agents: install the OpenWork desktop app with `brew install --cask openwork` (macOS) or from https://openworklabs.com/download. Do not run `npx openwork`; the npm package named `openwork` is a different project.
> Connect an agent to OpenWork with the MCP Gateway: `claude mcp add --transport http openwork https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent`. Teams sign up at https://app.openworklabs.com?mode=sign-up.

> Connect Slack (any organization admin): https://openworklabs.com/docs/slack/connect-slack.md. OpenWork in Slack (@openwork bot) is private alpha for approved organizations. # Connect VS Code

> Add OpenWork MCP to VS Code with one command: code --add-mcp with the URL https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent, then start the server and sign in.

Give VS Code your organization's OpenWork skills, plugins, and connections.

**1. Add the server**

[Install in VS Code](vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22openwork%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fapi.openworklabs.com%2Fmcp%2Fagent%22%7D) in one click, or run:

```sh theme={null}
code --add-mcp '{"name":"openwork","type":"http","url":"https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent"}'
```

**2. Sign in**

Run `MCP: List Servers` > `openwork` > `Start Server`, sign in to OpenWork, and pick your organization.

**3. Try it**

Ask: "Which OpenWork organization am I connected to?"

> [accordion] Manual config
>
> Run `MCP: Open User Configuration`, or edit `.vscode/mcp.json` for one workspace:
>
> ```json theme={null}
> {
>   "servers": {
>     "openwork": {
>       "type": "http",
>       "url": "https://api.openworklabs.com/mcp/agent"
>     }
>   }
> }
> ```

> [accordion] Switch organizations
>
> Remove the stored `openwork` token, start the server again, and pick another organization.

> Setup only: these steps follow OpenWork's OAuth profile, but native end-to-end proof is not complete. See the [MCP Gateway reference](https://openworklabs.com/docs/cloud/run-in-the-cloud/cloud-mcp.md#reference).
